If you have decided to opt for Laser Hair Removal, there are a few ways that you can help ensure that the procedure achieves the desired results. Please get in touch with us at (802) 876-7378 if you have any questions.
- Shave the treatment area within 12 hours before your appointment. Unlike electrolysis, we do not need to see the hair to treat it.
- If applying topical anesthetic cream, follow the instructions precisely for optimal results.
- Stay out of direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least four weeks before and at least two weeks after treatment. Failure to follow this recommendation can lead to burning, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. Also, always use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher during laser treatments.
- Activation of Herpes (Herpes Simplex I/II) can occur following treatment of individuals with the virus. Antiviral medications 24-48 hours before treatment can help prevent an outbreak.
- Before your appointment, ensure that the area to be treated is clean and free of makeup, deodorant, lotions, or creams.
- Consider what you wear to your appointment. You will not want tight or scratchy clothing on the skin that will be treated. Avoid dark clothing around the treatment area.
- Do not wax or tweeze hair for at least four weeks before your appointment. Shaving is the only method used while undergoing laser treatments. Failure to follow this recommendation will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment of hair removal that should be.
- Areas with tattoos cannot be treated.
- Stop Retin-A and AHA’s one week before treatment.
