Laser Treatment
Lasers have been used for years to treat acne scars. In such treatments, the laser removes skin so that new skin can form in its place. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser resurfacing allows the penetration depth into the skin to be more easily controlled. The laser gently vaporizes the acne-scarred surface of the skin so that the undamaged skin below is revealed.

Subcision
Subcision is a minor in-office surgical procedure used to treat acne scars. It involves inserting a small needle into the skin to release the acne scar from the underlying tissue. Once disrupted, the depressed region of the scar will lift and appear smoother cosmetically.
Subcision is done with a local anesthetic, so there is minimal discomfort. There is minimal downtime, with swelling and bruising being the most common side effects.
The pain, swelling, and bruising typically take 1 to 2 weeks to heal. The number of treatment sessions you’ll need will depend on the scar's severity and your body’s ability to form scar tissue. It may take several months for the scar to become less visible.
Subcision can be combined with a resurfacing laser to get even better results.
Number of treatments: 3-6
Procedure Length: 30-60 minutes
Maintenance: As needed
Downtime: 7 days
Discomfort: Mild
Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing is a popular method to improve the appearance of the skin. It involves removing the outer layers of the skin, which stimulates new collagen formation. This process results in smoother, more even-toned, and youthful-looking skin. One way of achieving this is through the use of the Fotona Erbium laser. This laser targets the uppermost layer of the skin with extreme precision, allowing for a layer-by-layer resurfacing of the skin's epidermis. The laser's energy is absorbed by the water content in the skin cells, which causes the tissue to vaporize, resulting in shrinkage and the stimulation of new collagen in the dermis. This process leads to the formation of new skin, which is smoother and tighter. Skin resurfacing can treat various skin conditions, including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, photo-damaged skin, and age spots.
